Welcome to Illustrated London
London-born artist Dominik Klimowski works primarily in watercolour, ink, photography and film. His themes commonly refer to life in cities; he spent his childhood in Warsaw before returning to London where he has lived and worked for the past 40 years.
Illustrated London comes from his love of documenting locations in the capital; important historical landmarks, areas changed by regeneration and forces of nature, or unusual and personal nooks and crannies. His paintings are illustrative, and serve to investigate not only the geography of the city, but also its ambience.
London is a city seeping with history and perpetually changing. It has its own developing language, humour, culture, an identity born of its connection to the rest of the world.
Dominik studied at Chelsea College of Art before completing a BA in Final Art and an MA in Photography. He paints at his studio in West London, teaches at Fine Arts College in North London, and sketches all over the place.
