Although born in Florence, Nightingale travelled widely and is known for her work during the Crimean War. She settled in London and was awarded Freedom of the City, with a blue plaque at her last address in Mayfair. Her legacy is crucial and global, but has been in the public eye most recently with the importance of nursing and treatment in the fight against the current Covid-19 pandemic.
